Bedford Fireworks 2026: Blues Display Not Dated Yet

Bonfire night 2026 falls on Thursday 5 November, and the display almost everyone in Bedford means when they search for fireworks is the Bedford Blues Fireworks Display and Funfair at Goldington Road. As of 4 September it has not been announced for 2026, and it is not yet on the club’s ticket shop.

That is normal for the date. The club has announced it as late as 24 October in the past. What follows is what is actually verifiable today: the history, the timings that have not changed in six years, the reason it is worth booking the moment it opens, and the one thing on the 2026 fixture list that narrows down the likely date.

The 2026 position, stated plainly

• Bedford Borough Council is not running a fireworks display. Its park events calendar lists every event booked onto council parkland in 2026. There is nothing in it for late October or early November except Russell Circus on Longholme Way and the Bedford 10k and Half Marathon on 1 November. No fireworks, in any park, all year.
• The Blues display is on private ground, so it never appears in that calendar. Goldington Road is the club’s own site.
• Nothing is on sale. The club’s ticket shop lists home fixtures, business lunches and a Christmas wreath class. The November listing is the Doncaster Knights match on Friday 13 November, and no fireworks event.
• Nothing has been announced. The club’s news archive for July, August and September 2026 carries fixtures, sponsors and match reports, and no fireworks item.

None of that means it is off. It means it has not been announced yet, which at the start of September is exactly where it was in five of the last six years.

When it has run, and when it was announced

Every one of these is from the club’s own announcement, and every single one was a Friday.

Children under 6 have gone free every year. There was no display in 2020 because of Covid, and the club described its 2021 return as being “after a two-year absence”.

So the announcement window is roughly mid-September to late October. If you are watching for it, that is the month to watch.

The likely 2026 date, and why

This is inference, not an announcement, and it is marked as such.

Bonfire night itself is a Thursday in 2026, so the two candidate Fridays are 30 October and 6 November. The Blues fixture list rules heavily in favour of the second one:

• Saturday 31 October 2026: Bedford Blues v Hartpury University, 3pm, at Goldington Road. A Friday-night funfair on the same site would have to be struck overnight before a home league match.
• Saturday 7 November 2026: Blackheath v Bedford Blues, away at The Utilita.

The club has scheduled around exactly this before. Its 2024 fireworks guide told readers to watch the rugby on the screens because “the Blues [are] not in action until Saturday away at Bristol”. The pattern is a Friday display with a free or away Saturday behind it.

Friday 6 November 2026 is therefore the likeliest date, but the club has not said so. Do not book anything around it until the announcement lands.

The timings that have not changed since 2019

Once it is confirmed, this is the shape of the night, and it has been identical for years:

• 6pm: gates, funfair, bars and food outlets open. In 2024 the main Goldington Road gates opened earlier still, at 5.30pm, to spread the queue.
• 7pm: the children’s display, a shorter and quieter one.
• 8pm: the main display, run by pyrotechnics firm Firemagic.
• 8pm: last admission, strictly. The club repeats this every year in bold. There is no admission afterwards.

All three entrances open, not just the turnstiles: the main gates on Goldington Road, the Burrow entrance opposite Bushmead Avenue, and the hospital gate off Kimbolton Road.

Most people watch from the back training pitch, though the club opens everywhere outside a 50 metre radius of the display, and the apron seats in the stand are first come, first served.

Tickets: the one thing worth knowing in advance

There are no tickets on the gate. The club has said this in every announcement since 2022, in the same words: “no tickets available on the gate, so we encourage everyone to purchase early to guarantee your place and avoid disappointment.” It also describes the event as “selling out in advance annually”.

If you want to go, buy the week the announcement appears rather than the week of the event.

Hospitality has run alongside general admission and has its own prices. In 2024 that was £49 a head in the Dovecote Park Suite for a two-course bangers and mash with a private viewing gallery, and £32 a head in The Burrow including a meal from Chicken George, a private bar and a viewing gallery. Those are 2024 figures, quoted for scale only.

Getting there and parking

Goldington Road is about a five minute walk from the town centre, which is how the club pitches it: fireworks first, then into town.

Parking is the part people get wrong. On-street parking in Bedford is free after 6pm Monday to Saturday everywhere except Castle Lane, where charging runs to 11pm. Several council car parks close before the crowd leaves, and the ones nearest the ground fill early on a display night. Other displays around the borough

Village clubs run their own smaller displays, and listings sites republish them early with dates lifted from the previous year. Oakley Sports and Social Club on Church Lane, MK43 7RJ, is the one that comes up most often in searches for a 2026 Bedford display. We could not verify a 2026 date for it from the club itself, only from an aggregator, so this page does not carry one. Check the club’s own channels before travelling.
