Bedford singer Grace Cope releases Kept It All Inside on Friday 23 October, her first single on Cyber Nomad Records, with two London gigs planned for January.

Bedford singer-songwriter Grace Cope releases her first single on her new label this Friday, 23 October. “Kept It All Inside” is the first of the six singles in the deal she signed with the independent label Cyber Nomad Records, which we reported last month.

Grace wrote the song herself. Chris Kimsey is executive producer, and James F Reynolds produced and mixed it. The label says it will be on all the major streaming platforms.

In the press kit for the release, Grace sums up the song in one line:

“It talks about grieving the loss of the person you used to be.”

What the song is about

The label calls the track “deeply personal” and “emotionally honest”, a song about “the lasting impact of difficult relationships”. The press kit describes it as “dark, atmospheric and deeply moving”, with “a haunting, moody sound” carrying Grace’s vocal, and goes on:

“Written for those going through dark times, the song explores feelings of guilt and isolation following difficult experiences, and the lasting effects they can leave behind. At its heart is a sense of grief; not only for what has happened, but for the person you used to be.”

It adds that Grace “deliberately leaves the meaning behind her songs open to interpretation, giving listeners the space to find their own story within the lyrics”. She says much the same about her own writing:

“I’ve always written songs to understand my emotions rather than escape them. If someone hears one of my songs and feels a little less alone, then I’ve achieved exactly what I set out to do.”

From The Piano to a record deal

The label describes her as “a Bedford-based singer-songwriter creating emotionally charged indie-pop”. Many people first came across her on Channel 4’s The Piano. She has Tourette’s syndrome, and the label says she was chosen as lead vocalist for the national Tourette’s Action campaign Being Misunderstood, working on it with Chris Kimsey. It adds that her story has been covered by BBC News, whose 2025 feature is still online, and by LADbible.

The label says that since the deal was signed it has been “working hard behind the scenes developing her music and building opportunities for her as an emerging artist”.

Two January gigs

According to the label, Grace is preparing for two live dates in January:

  • The Bedford, 7 January. This is the music pub on Bedford Hill in Balham, south London, not a venue in Bedford.
  • The Half Moon, Putney, 11 January.

When we checked on 18 October, neither venue had published a listing or ticket details for either date.
